Burundi participates in World Governments Summit 2026 in Dubai

The World Governments Summit 2026 opened in Dubai on 3 February, bringing together delegations from more than 150 countries to discuss the future of governance, artificial intelligence, climate action and global economic resilience.
Burundi is among the participating nations. President Evariste Ndayishimiye arrived in Dubai on Monday 2 February 2026, accompanied by the First Lady and an official delegation. The President landed at Al Maktoum International Airport at 6:00 pm local time, which was 4:00 pm in Gitega.
He was received by the Minister of Justice of the United Arab Emirates, Mr Abdallah bin Sultan bin Sultan, and members of the Burundian community living in Dubai.
The Burundian delegation includes Dr Alain Ndikumana, Minister of Finance, Budget and Digital Economy, and Mr Edouard Bizimana, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Development Cooperation.
The summit runs from 3 to 5 February 2026 and is held mainly at Madinat Jumeirah under the theme “Shaping Future Governments”.
According to the organizers, the 2026 edition is the largest since the summit was created. It brings together more than 35 heads of state and government, over 500 ministers, and more than 6,000 participants, including global experts, business leaders and representatives of international organizations such as the IMF and the World Bank.
The program includes over 320 sessions and more than 450 speakers. Key discussion areas include innovative governance, artificial intelligence, education, sustainability, mobility, economic resilience and climate change.
Burundi’s participation focuses on exchanges related to digital governance, economic transformation and international cooperation.
The World Governments Summit is an annual global platform launched in 2013 to support dialogue on government innovation and future public policies.
